odds and sods
«Сборная солянка», смесь чего-либо. Эта фраза была популярна среди младших чинов британской армии и вошла в употребление примерно с 1915 г., характеризуя рекрутов, мало приспособленных к службе в армии. По религиозным убеждениям все солдаты делились на CE или C of E Church of England — англиканская церковь, RC Roman Catholic — католики и OD Other Denominations — «Odds» — представители других религиозных групп. Слово sods было добавлено отчасти для рифмы, отчасти потому, что слово sod означало неприятного человека или неудобную ситуацию.

If you deal with the papers marked A, John can deal with the papers marked B and I'll deal with the odds and sods. — Если ты займёшься бумагами с пометкой «А», Джон — бумагами с пометкой «В», то я займусь сборной солянкой.
